A Word From Our Founder
My name is Michelle Shannon Varnes, and I am the Founder and President of Big Hearts for Veterans Texas.
This nonprofit was born from a passion for helping others and a calling that God placed on my heart. After experiencing difficult seasons in my own life, I found that serving others brought healing, hope, and purpose.
The journey began with a simple shoe drive for homeless veterans at US VETS. Soon, people began donating medical equipment, and families started reaching out looking for wheelchairs, hospital beds, walkers, and other essential items. I realized there was a tremendous need in our community.
Today, Big Hearts for Veterans Texas provides donated medical equipment and connects veterans, seniors, children, and first responders with valuable resources and support. What started as one small act of kindness has grown into a mission dedicated to restoring hope, preserving dignity, and changing lives.
